Now I will tell the story from the beginning: in the first adhyaya, the beautiful praise of Ganapati was sung.

उपरी सांगूनि रेतक्षिती । आणि मच्छिंद्राची जन्मस्थिती । तो बद्रिकाश्रमाप्रती । तपालागीं बैसला

Uparee saanguuni retakshitee | Aani Machchindraachee janma-sthitee | Toh Badrika-ashramaapratee | Tapaalaagee baisalaa ||

Next, the account of the seed and origin, and Machchindra's birth, was told -- how he sat at Badrikashram to perform tapas.

या प्रसंगाचें श्रवण पठण । नित्य करितां भावेंकरुन । तरी समंधबाधा घरांतून । जाईल त्रासून महाराजा

Yaa prasangaache shravana pathanu | Nitya karitaa bhaaven-karunu | Taree samandha-baadhaa gharaantuunu | Jaaeela traasuuna Mahaaraajaa ||

Whoever hears or reads this passage daily and with devotion will find that any affliction by an evil spirit will be driven out of their home, O great one.

द्वितीय अध्यायीं अत्रिनंदन । विद्यार्णव केला अनुग्रह देऊन । उपरी नागपत्रीं अश्वत्थीं जाऊन । सिद्धर्थकळा साधिली

Dviteeya adhyaayee Atrinandanu | Vidyaa-arnava kelaa anugraha deuunu | Uparee Naagapatree Ashvatthee jaauunu | Siddh-arthakalaa saadhilee ||

In the second adhyaya, Atrinandana (Dattatreya) gave his blessing and made [Machchindra] an ocean of knowledge -- going to the sacred Ashvattha tree on the serpent-leaf, he mastered the art of accomplishment.

तो अध्याय करितां नित्य पठण । अपार धन लाभेल संसारी जाण । विजयलक्ष्मी पाठीं बैसून । करील हरण दरिद्र

Toh adhyaaya karitaa nitya pathanu | Apaara dhana laabhela samsaaree jaanu | Vijaya-Lakshmee paathee baisuunu | Kareela harana daridra ||

Whoever reads that chapter daily will gain abundant wealth in worldly life -- Vijaya-Lakshmi (Goddess of Victory and Fortune) will stay close behind him and will banish poverty.

तृतीय अध्यायीं मच्छिंद्र मारुती । युद्धा प्रवर्तले श्वेतक्षितीं । युद्ध करुनि उपरांतीं । ऐक्यचित्त झालें असे

Triteeya adhyaayee Machchindra Maarutee | Yuddhaa pravartale shvetakshitee | Yuddha karuni uparaantee | Aikyachitta jhaale ase ||

In the third adhyaya, Machchindra and Maruti (Hanuman) went to war in Shvetakshiti (the White Land) -- after the battle, they became of one mind.

याचें झालिया पठण । शत्रु होतील क्षीण । मुष्टिविद्यासाधन । तया होत सर्वथा

Yaache jhaaliyaa pathanu | Shatru hoteela ksheenu | Mushti-vidyaa-saadhanu | Tayaa hota sarvathaa ||

Whoever reads this will find their enemies weakened, and will attain complete mastery of the fist-fighting art (mushti-vidya).

मुष्टिबाधा झाली असोन । अपकार होईल तियेनें । मूर्तिमंत मारुती करोनि रक्षण । राहे तया घरीं सर्वदा

Mushti-baadhaa jhaalee asonu | Apakaara hoeela tiyene | Moortimanta Maarutee karoni rakshanu | Raahe tayaa gharee sarvadaa ||

Even if one is under the affliction of a curse of fisticuffs/black magic that would otherwise cause harm, Maruti himself will appear in person to protect and remain in that house forever.

चतुर्थ अध्यायीं वदली कथा । अष्टभैरव चामुंडा समस्ता । रणीं जिंकूनि वसुसुता । ज्वालामुखी भेटली

Chaturtha adhyaayee vadalee kathaa | Ashta Bhairava Chaamundaa samastaa | Ranee jinkuuni vasusutaa | Jvaalaa-Mukhee bhetalee ||

In the fourth adhyaya it is told how, having conquered the eight Bhairavas and Chamunda and all such spirits in battle, and having conquered Vasusuta, [Machchindra] met the goddess Jwalamukhi.

तो अध्याय नित्य पठण करितां । चुकेल कपटाची बंधनव्यथा । शत्रु पराभवोनि सर्वथा । निरंतर शांति मिरवेल

Toh adhyaaya nitya pathana karitaa | Chukela kapataachee bandhana-vyathaa | Shatru paraabhavoni sarvathaa | Nirantara shaanti miravela ||

Whoever reads that chapter daily will be freed from the bondage and suffering caused by deception -- enemies will be utterly defeated and lasting peace will prevail.

पांचवे अध्यायींचें कथन । भूतें घेतलीं प्रसन्न करुन । अष्टपती जिंकून । विजयी झाला मच्छिंद्र

Paanchave adhyaayeenche kathanu | Bhoote ghetalee prasanna karunu | Ashtapatee jinkuunu | Vijayee jhaalaa Machchindru ||

The fifth adhyaya tells how [Machchindra] pacified the bhutas (spirits) and made them favorable, and conquered the eight lords (Ashtapati), becoming victorious.

ती कथा नित्य करितां पठण । भूतसंचार नोहे त्या घराकारण । आलीं असतां जाती सोडून । परम त्रासेंकरोनियां

Tee kathaa nitya karitaa pathanu | Bhoota-sanchaara nohe tyaa gharaakaaranu | Aalee asataa jaatee soduunu | Parama traasen-karoniyaa ||

Whoever reads that story daily will find that spirit-possession will not trouble that household -- any spirits already present will flee in great fear.

सहाव्या अध्यायांत । शिवअस्त्र कालिका मच्छिंद्रनाथ । युद्ध करुनि प्रसन्नचित्त । वश्य झालीं अस्त्रें तीं

Sahaavyaa adhyaaya-antu | Shiva-astra Kaalikaa Machchindra Naathu | Yuddha karuni prasanna-chittu | Vashya jhaalee astre tee ||

In the sixth adhyaya, the Shiva-astra (Shiva's weapon), Kalika, and Machchindranath fought -- and once satisfied by the battle, those weapons became obedient to him.

तो अध्याय नित्य करितां पठण । शत्रूलागीं पडेल मोहन । निष्कपट तो करुनि मन । किंकर होईल द्वारींचा

Toh adhyaaya nitya karitaa pathanu | Shatroolaagee padela mohanu | Nishkapata toh karuni manu | Kinkara hoeela dvaareenchaa ||

Whoever reads that chapter daily will find their enemies falling under a spell of affection towards them -- one who approaches with a sincere heart will become a devoted servant at their door.

सातव्या अध्यायीं अपूर्व कथा । जिंकूनि वीरभद्र केली ऐक्यता । उपरी स्वर्गापासाव मच्छिंद्रनाथा । इच्छेसमान झालीसे

Saatavyaa adhyaayee apoorva kathaa | Jinkuuni Veerabhadra kelee aikyataa | Uparee svargaapaasaava Machchindra Naathaa | Ichchesamaana jhaaleese ||

In the seventh adhyaya is an extraordinary story: having conquered Veerabhadra, [Machchindranath] made peace and unity with him -- and thereafter, from the heavens, Machchindranath's wishes were fulfilled just as he desired.

ती कथा नित्य गातां ऐकतां । लिप्त नोहे चौर्यायशींची व्यथा । झाली असेल मिटेल सर्वथा । चिंताव्यथा हरतील

Tee kathaa nitya gaataa aikataa | Lipta nohe chauryaayasheen-chee vyathaa | Jhaalee asela mitela sarvathaa | Chintaa-vyathaa harateelu ||

Whoever sings or hears that story daily will not be touched by the affliction associated with the eighty-four [Siddhas/lakh births] -- whatever trouble exists will dissolve completely, and worries will be dispelled.

जखीणभयापासुनी । त्वरित मुक्त होईल जनीं । एक मंडळ त्रिकालीं अभ्यासूनी । फळप्राप्ति घेइंजे

Jakheenabhayaapaasunee | Tvarita mukta hoeela janee | Eka mandala trikaalee abhyaasuunee | Phalapraapti gheinje ||

One will quickly be freed from the fear of jakhin (a class of malevolent female spirits) -- by practicing a single recitation-circle three times a day, the fruit will be attained.

आठवे अध्यायीं सकळ कथन । पाशुपतरायासी रामदर्शन । रणीं मित्रराज जिंकोन । केला प्रसन्न विद्येसी

Aathave adhyaayee sakala kathanu | Paashupata-raayaasee Raamadarshanu | Ranee mitraraaja jinkonu | Kelaa prasanna vidyesee ||

In the eighth adhyaya is told, in full, how Pashupatiraya received the vision (darshan) of Rama -- having conquered King Mitra in battle, [Machchindranath] made him devoted to the [Sabari] vidya.

तो अध्याय नित्य गातां ऐकतां । आपुला सखा देशावरता । तो गृहासी येऊनि भेटेल तत्त्वतां । चिंताव्यथा हरेल कीं

Toh adhyaaya nitya gaataa aikataa | Aapulaa sakhaa deshaavarataa | Toh grihaasee yeuuni bhetela tattvataa | Chintaa-vyathaa harela kee ||

Whoever sings or hears that chapter daily -- if their own companion is away in a foreign land, that person will truly come home and be reunited with them, and their anxieties will be dispelled.

नववे अध्यायीं कथन । गोरक्षाचा होऊनि जन्म । उपरी सेवूनि बद्रिकाश्रम । विद्यार्णव झालासे

Navave adhyaayee kathanu | Gorakshaachaa houuni janmu | Uparee sevuuni Badrikaashramu | Vidyaa-arnava jhaalaase ||

The ninth adhyaya tells of Goraksha's birth -- and how, having served at Badrikashram, he became an ocean of knowledge.

Ovee 121

तो अध्याय नित्य गातां ऐकतां । साधेल विद्या इच्छिल्या अर्था । ब्रह्मज्ञान रसायण कविता । चौदा विद्या करोनि राहे

Toh adhyaaya nitya gaataa aikataa | Saadhela vidyaa ichchilyaa arthaa | Brahma-jnyaana rasaayana kavitaa | Chaudaa vidyaa karoni raahe ||

Whoever sings or hears that chapter daily will attain whatever knowledge they desire -- Brahma-jnana (divine knowledge), alchemy, poetry -- they will come to possess all fourteen branches of learning.

दशम अध्यायींचे कथन । स्त्रीदेशीं मच्छिंद्रनंदन । अंजनीसुतअर्थी पाठवोन । अर्थ कीलोतळेचे पुरविले

Dashama adhyaayeenche kathanu | Streedeshee Machchindranandanu | Anjanee-suta-arthee paathavonu | Artha Keelotaleche puravile ||

The tenth adhyaya's account: in the Land of Women, Machchindra's son [Goraksha] was sent on Hanuman's errand, and thereby fulfilled Kilotala's purpose.

एकांती बैसूनि अनुष्ठान । संजीवनी पाठ करी गौरनंदन । गहिनीनाथाचा जन्म । कर्दमपुतळा करितां तो

Ekaantee baisuuni anushthaanu | Sanjeevanee paatha karee Gaura-nandanu | Gahinee-naathaachaa jalla-janmu | Kardama-putalaa karitaa toh ||

Sitting alone in seclusion and performing the rite, reciting the Sanjeevani mantra, [Machchindranath, here called Gauranandana] brought about Gahininath's birth by forming him from a clay effigy.

तो अध्याय करितां पठण । स्त्रियांचे दोष जातील कपटपण । मुलें वांचतील होतां जाण । जगीं संतती मिरवेल

Toh adhyaaya karitaa pathanu | Striyaanche dosha jaateela kapatapanu | Baade (Mule) vaanchateela hotaa jaanu | Jagee santatee miravelu ||

Whoever reads that chapter will find that women's afflictions and the taint of deceit will be removed -- children will survive their birth, and offspring will flourish in that family.

उपरी गृहद्रव्याच्या यज्ञांत । उदय पावला जालिंदरनाथ । तो एकादश अध्याय पठण करितां नित्य । अग्निपीडा होईना

Uparee grihadravya-achyaa yajnyaatu | Udaya paavalaa Jaalindaranaathu | Toh ekaadasha adhyaaya pathana karitaa nityu | Agni-peedaa hoeenaa ||

Next, in a yajna concerning household wealth, Jalindarnath rose up -- whoever reads that eleventh adhyaya daily will never suffer harm from fire.

आणि जयाचे धवळारांत । पूर्वींचा कांहीं दोष असत । तो जाऊनि संपत्तिविशेषातें । संततीसह भोगील कीं

Aani jayaache dhavalaaraatu | Poorveenchaa kaanhee dosha asatu | Toh jaauuni sampatti-visheshaate | Santa-tee-saha bhogeela kee ||

And if some old fault exists in that person's household, it will depart, and along with special prosperity, they will enjoy it together with their descendants.

बाराव्यांत हें कथन । जालिंदरें गुरु केला अत्रिनंदन । उपरी कानिफाचा होऊनि जन्म । विटंबिलें देवासी

Baaraavyaanta hey kathanu | Jaalindare guru kelaa Atrinandanu | Uparee Kaaniphaachaa houuni janmu | Vitambile devaasee ||

In the twelfth adhyaya is this account: Jalindar made Atrinandana (Dattatreya) his guru, and thereafter Kanifa was born, having once mocked the gods.

तो अध्याय करितां पठण । क्षोभ न पावे कोणी देवता जाण । क्षोभित असल्या होतील शमन । सुख सर्व त्याचि देती

Toh adhyaaya karitaa pathanu | Kshobha na paave konee devataa jaanu | Kshobhita asalyaa hoteela shamanu | Sukha sarva tyaachi detee ||

Whoever reads that chapter will find that no deity will be displeased with them -- and if any deity is already displeased, they will be pacified and grant every happiness.

तेराव्या अध्यायांत । मैनावतीतें प्रसन्न नाथ । होऊनि केलें अचल सनाथ । ब्रह्मरुपीं आगळी

Teraavyaa adhyaaya-atu | Mainaavateete prasanna Naathu | Houuni kele achala sanaathu | Brahma-rupee aagalee ||

In the thirteenth adhyaya, the Nath became gracious toward Mainavati and made her steadfast and truly devoted, elevating her into the form of Brahman.

तरी तो अध्याय करितां पठण । स्त्रीहत्येचे दोष सघन । त्यांचें होऊनि सकळ निरसन । उद्धरील पूर्वजां

Taree toh adhyaaya karitaa pathanu | Stree-hatyeche dosha saghanu | Tyaanche houuni sakala nirasanu | Uddhareela poorvajaa Chaturdasha||

Whoever reads that chapter will find the heavy sin of killing a woman entirely dissolved -- and their ancestors, too, will be uplifted and redeemed.

चतुर्दश अध्यायीं कथन । गर्तेंत जालिंदर गोपीचंदानें । स्त्रीबोलें घातले नेऊन । गुप्त निशीमाझारी

Chaturdasha adhyaayee kathanu | Garteta Jaalindara Gopeechandaane | Streebole ghaatale neuunu | Gupta nishee-maajhaaree ||

The fourteenth adhyaya tells how Gopichand, misled by a woman's words, had Jalindar thrown into a pit and secretly buried at night.

तो अध्याय पठण करितां । असेल बंद कारागृहीं व्यथा । तरी त्याची होईल मुक्तता । निर्दोष जनीं वर्तेल

Toh adhyaaya pathana karitaa | Asela banda kaaraa-grihee vyathaa | Taree tyaachee hoeela muktataa | Nirdosha janee vartela ||

Whoever reads that chapter, if suffering the pain of imprisonment, will find release -- they will live blamelessly among people thereafter.

पंचदशांत सुढाळ कथन । कानिफामारुतींचें युद्धकंदन । उपरी स्त्रीराज्यांत जाऊन । आतिथ्य पूर्ण भोगिलें

Pancha-dasha-anta sudhaala kathanu | Kaaniphaa-maaruteeche yuddha-kandanu | Uparee Streeraajya-anta jaauunu | Aatithya poorna bhogile ||

The fifteenth adhyaya, a fine account: Kanifa and Maruti fought in battle -- and then [Kanifa] went into the Kingdom of Women, where he received full hospitality.

तो अध्याय गातां ऐकता नित्य । घरचे दारचे कलह नित्यकृत्य । शांति पावोनि सर्व सुखांत । निर्भयपणें नांदेल

Toh adhyaaya gaataa aikataa nityu | Gharache daarache kalaha nitya-krityu | Shaanti paavoni sarva sukhaantu | Nirbhayapane naandela ||

Whoever sings or hears that chapter daily will find that daily quarrels at home and at the door will cease -- they will live in peace, in complete happiness, and without fear.

सोळावे अध्यायांत । कानिफा भेटला गोपीचंदातें । तरी तो अध्याय वाचितां नित्यानित्य । दुःस्वप्नांतें नाशील

Solaave adhyaaya-antu | Kaaniphaa bhetalaa Gopeechandaate | Taree toh adhyaaya vaachitaa nitya-anityu | Du-svapnaante naasheela ||

In the sixteenth adhyaya, Kanifa met Gopichand -- whoever reads that chapter regularly will be freed from bad dreams.

सप्तदश अध्यायीं कथन । जालिंदर काढिला गर्तेंतून । उपरी नाथाची दीक्षा घेऊन । गोपीचंदें अर्चिला

Saptadasha adhyaayee kathanu | Jaalindara kaadhilaa garten-tuunu | Uparee naathaachee deekshaa gheuunu | Gopeechande archilaa ||

The seventeenth adhyaya tells how Jalindar was pulled out from the pit, and thereafter, having taken initiation from the Nath, was worshipped by Gopichand.

तोचि अध्याय पठण करितां । योग साधेल आचरतां । दुष्टबुद्धि जाईल सर्वथा । सुपंथपंथा लागेल तो

Tochi adhyaaya pathana karitaa | Yoga saadhela yoga aacharataa | Dushta-buddhi jaaeela sarvathaa | Supantha-panthaa laagela toh ||

Whoever reads that very chapter will attain success in yoga through practice -- wicked intentions will leave them, and they will be set upon the good and righteous path.

अष्टादश अध्यायीं कथन । बद्रिकाश्रमीं गोपीचंद जाऊन । तपःपूर्ण भगिनी उठवोन । तीव्रपणीं आचरला

Ashtaa-dasha adhyaayee kathanu | Badrikaa Aashramee Gopeechanda jaauunu | Tapapoorna bhaginee uthavonu | Teevrapanee aacharalaa ||

In the eighteenth adhyaya it is told how Gopichand went to Badrikashram and, with complete austerity, revived his sister with great intensity of practice.

तो अध्याय नित्य पठण करितां । ब्रह्महत्या नासेल सर्वथा । पूर्वज कुंभीपाकीं असतां । सुटका होईल तयांची

Toh adhyaaya nitya pathana karitaa | Brahma-hatyaa naasela sarvathaa | Poorvaja Kumbhee-paakee asataa | Sutakaa hoeela tayaanchee ||

Whoever reads that chapter daily will find that the sin of killing a Brahmin is entirely destroyed -- and if their ancestors are suffering in the hell called Kumbhipaka, they will be released.

एकोणिसाव्यांत गोरक्षाकारण । भेटला मारुती श्रीरामप्रीतीनें । तरी तो अध्याय करितां पठण । तया मोक्षार्थ साधेल कीं

Ekoni-saavyaata Gorakshaa-kaaranu | Bhetalaa Maarutee shree-Raama-preeteene | Taree toh adhyaaya karitaa pathanu | Tayaa moksha-artha saadhela kee ||

In the nineteenth, for Goraksha's sake, Maruti (Hanuman) came to meet him out of his love for Shri Rama -- whoever reads that chapter will attain the fruit of liberation (moksha).

विसाव्यांत अद्भुत कथन । श्रीमच्छिंद्रा भेटीचें कारण । गोरक्ष स्त्रीराज्यांत जाऊन । स्नेहसंपन्न जाहला

Visaavyaanta adbhuta kathanu | Shreemachchindraa bheteeche kaaranu | Goraksha Stree-raajyaanta jaauunu | Sneha-sampanna jaahalaa ||

In the twentieth is a wonderful account: the reason for Shri Machchindra's reunion -- Goraksha went to the Kingdom of Women and became filled with affection there.

तो अध्याय पठण करितां गोड । लागलें असेल अत्यंत वेड । तरी ती चेष्टा जाऊनि धड । होऊनि प्रपंच आचरेल

Toh adhyaaya pathana karitaa godu | Laagale asela atyanta vedu | Taree tee cheshtaa jaauuni dhadu | Houuni prapancha aacharela ||

Whoever reads that chapter, sweetly, if afflicted by an intense madness or obsession, will find that affliction leave completely, and will resume a settled household life.

एकविसाव्यांत स्त्रीराज्यांतून । मच्छिंद्रासी काढिलें गोरक्षनंदने । नानापरी बोघूनि मन । दुष्टकर्मातें निवटिलें

Ekavisaa-vyaata Streeraajyaantuunu | Machchindraasee kaadhile Goraksha-nandane | Naanaa-paree bodhuuni manu | Dushta-karmaate nivatile ||

In the twenty-first, Goraksha's son drew Machchindra out from the Kingdom of Women -- persuading his mind in many ways, he eliminated his evil conduct.

तो अध्याय नित्य पठण करितां । नासेल बहुजन्मांची गोहत्या । निष्कलंक होऊनि चित्ता । तपोलोकीं मिरवेल

Toh nitya adhyaaya pathana karitaa | Naasela bahujanmaanchee go-hatyaa | Nishkalanka houuni chittaa | Tapo-lokee miravelu ||

Whoever reads that chapter daily will find that the sin of killing a cow, accumulated across many births, is destroyed -- becoming spotless in mind, they will attain the world of the sages (Tapoloka).

Ovee 145

बाविसाव्यांत सोरटीग्रामीं । गोरक्षें मीननाथा मारोनी । पुन्हां उठविला मंत्रेंकरोनी । मच्छिंद्रमोहेंकरोनियां

Baavisaavyaata Sorateegraamee | Gorakshe Meena-naathaa maaronee | Punhaa uthavilaa mantrenkaronee | Machchindramohe-karoniyaa ||

In the twenty-second, at Sorati village, Goraksha, having slain Meenanath, revived him again through mantra, out of his love for Machchindra.

तरी तो अध्याय नित्य पठण करितां । पुत्रार्थिता पुत्र तत्त्वतां । तो होईल विद्यावंत । विद्वज्जनां मान्य कीं

Taree toh adhyaaya nitya pathana karitaa | Putra-arthitaa putra tattvataa | Toh hoeela vidyaanvantu | Vidvajjanaa maanya kee ||

Whoever reads that chapter daily, if desiring a son, will truly obtain one -- and that son will become learned, honored among the wise.

Ovee 147

तेविसाव्यांत रसाळ कथन । मच्छिंद्र गोरक्ष गर्भाद्रीं जाऊन । सुवर्णविटेकरितां सुवर्ण । गर्भगिरी केला असे

Tevi-saavyaanta rasaala kathanu | Machchindra Goraksha garbhaadree jaauunu | Suvarna-vite-karitaa suvarnu | Garbhagiree kelaa ase ||

In the twenty-third is a delightful account: Machchindra and Goraksha went to Garbhadri, and by turning a gold brick into gold, made the mountain Garbhagiri.

आणिक केला तेथें उत्सव । तरी तो अध्याय पठण नित्य भावें । करितां घरीं सुवर्ण नव । अखंड राहे भरोनी

Aanika kelaa tethe utsavu | Taree toh adhyaaya pathana nitya bhaave | Karitaa gharee suvarna navu | Akhanda raahe bharonee ||

Goraksha declares this with his own voice -- whoever considers it false, whoever slanders or belittles it, becomes liable to misfortune themselves.

Neither in this world nor the next will such a person know true happiness -- their lineage will end, and in the end their own family line will suffer for having slandered this Granth.

These forty mantras are for the benefit of others -- they will sweep away sorrow entirely. Keep them collected in your home and hold to them with faith.

ह्या चाळीस अध्यायांत मंत्रतंत्र । सुखकारक असती अति पवित्र । दुःखदीसरिद्रहरण सर्वत्र । गोरक्षानें निर्मिलें

Hyaa chaaleesa adhyaaya-ata mantra-yantru | Sukha-kaaraka asatee ati pavitru | Dukha-daridra-harana sarvatru | Gorakshaane nirmile ||

In these forty adhyayas lie mantra and tantra that are deeply auspicious and pure -- removing sorrow and poverty everywhere -- all created by Goraksha himself.

पठण करितां षण्मासमिती । जो अध्याय ज्या कार्याप्रती । तें कार्य होऊनि निःसंशय चित्तीं । पठण करुनि पहावें

If read for a period of six months, whichever adhyaya pertains to whatever purpose, that purpose will be fulfilled without any doubt in the mind -- read it and see for yourself.

And if one is unable to read it, then simply keeping it stored in the home and bowing to it daily with reverence will accomplish the purpose all the same.

Offering a single flower upward and saying 'let this be for my purpose,' one should bow to and salute the Nine Naths with these words.

Such is the path laid out here -- try it and witness this fine wonder -- the Nine Naths themselves will bend their own bodies in effort to accomplish your task.

So may victory and prosperity dwell in the homes of all listeners -- this alone is Dhundisuta's prayer to the Nath gods, offered through Malu Narahari.

Taree samasta naathaante dhundeesutu | Maalu Narahari henchi vinaveetu | Kee shrote asota sukha-rupa-vantu | Sarva arthee sarvadaa ||

So to all the Naths together, Dhundisuta -- that is, Malu Narahari -- makes this one prayer: may the listeners remain happy and at ease, in every respect, always.

Svasti Shreebhaktikathaa Saaru | Sammata Goraksha Kaavya Kimayaa-gaaru | Sadaa parisota bhaavika chaturu | Chatvaarinshatitamodhyaaya goda haa ||

May all be well -- this is the essence of the devotional story, the beloved poetic work of Goraksha. May the devoted and wise always attend to it -- thus ends this sweet fortieth adhyaya.
